4 August 2016

To the Supporters and Volunteers of the Lucky Lucy Foundation

Here is our roundup for the first week in August.

We bring you the week at LLF in pictures, in an easily digestible, easy to read email. We are very excited to announce the arrival of 5 new puppies born on the first of the month.

We share our latest wish list of required items at our shelter for dogs and cats, and we share the events and news from our Lucky Lucy Farm.

As always we want to extend an open invitation for you all to come and see us at the farm. Come and have a look at what your contributions have achieved. Come and spend a couple of minutes with our furkids and breathe in some good, clean farm air. It’s so good for the soul.

Enjoy, and remember to give your feedback on newsletter@luckylucy.org about what you would like to see in future editions.

Newsflash

On 1 Aug 2016, in the early morning we said welcome to 5 new baby boys born in our shelter!

Mom, Champion, found her way to us on 27 July 2016 via one of our awesome supporters, Marlene. One of their workers came to her asking for help as he needed mommy dog in a safe place to give birth. He was afraid the pups might die in the cold. He also wants mom to be returned to him, STERILIZED, as he loves her very much. Patrick will be working at our shelter for a few days in order to ‘pay’ for Champion’s sterilization. A round of applause for Marlene, for educating and caring, and for Patrick who wants the best for his furkid!

Mom Champion is awesome! Please send pawsitive thoughts for mom and babies as they are still very fragile at this stage.

Since Mom came in with the name of Champion and the babies are all boys, we thought famous boxer names would be appropriate for the little ones. Any idea’s which famous boxers we should name our little fighters after?

We need to buy them the best food so that Mom can stay healthy and the babies can grow up big and strong. Please help us to get them Royal Canin Mother&Baby starter food. We know it is expensive, but they really need it. Every cent towards their care (food, deworming & vaccinations) would help.  It’s the beginning of a new month and money is tight with all the sky high vet bills.

If you could spare a few cents towards their care or our vet bills we will be forever grateful.

In loving memory:   Ms Mottley  2016-07-26

Big, warm & caring hugs to Freda & family in this time of sadness. Treasure her memories and love in your hearts forever!

Message from Freda Camino, Ms Mottley’s:

“Ms Mottley was the grand olde dame of this household. She brought peace and tranquillity and everything was done in style – just like the queen. What Ms Mottley wanted she got and she was never aggressive about it. Always just persevered until she got her way. She was allowed to lie on furniture in non-animal households- other dogs had to be be on floor but Granny had special privileges. ???????? She was gentle and soft but would herd us on ever so gently if we were going too slow or in the wrong direction by biting or nibbling the back of our knees – a typical herd dog.”

Molly or Ms Mottley as she was known, came to us in April 2012, all the way from Botswana, with over 60 of her fur’iends. She was adopted in November that same year to a wonderful family.

Freda, we cannot say thank you enough for being her loving mom and giving her the perfect family. Thank you for the times that you all came to visit us on the farm when you came down to Cape Town. Thank you for being with her until the angels came to take her away. Remember that they will keep her safe till the joyous day when she will be reunited with all that loved her so much.

Ms Mottley, you are and will always be a part of the LLF family too. We will think fondly of you and carry you in our hearts. Play and run beyond the rainbow bridge, your youth and health restored for all eternity.

We love you girl…. To the moon and back!

 xxx

We have a camp sponsored by her, “Mottley’s Crew”, so next time you visit the camp, please send Ms Mottley a few kisses where she watches over her Mom, her family and the Botswana dogs that are still here, in heaven and those adopted.
