7 July 2016

To the Supporters and Volunteers of the Lucky Lucy Foundation

Dear Supporters

The month of July is finally here and the second part of 2016 is now really coming into view. We are extremely excited and ready to see out this winter and ensure our furkids get the best possible care both at our shelter and our outreach communities. We are very proud of our progress with regards to the structures we are erecting on the farm and ensuring we secure the future of our foundation for generations to come. Our ablution facilities have been in operation a week now and the shower facilities for the workers on the farm is nearing completion any day now. The clinic where we want to establish a periodic veterinary care facility for community vets, is almost completed.

We want to keep reminding you of our Mandela Day event on the 16th of July. Spend some quality time with our furkids and help out with your physical labour for 67 minutes. Details are on the events poster further down.

As you can remember, we reported a while back about the puppies born in our shelter. Well we are proud to announce the 6 are now 7 weeks old and ready for adoption. Scroll down to our adoptable section and make sure you don’t miss out on these beauties.

Again we want to remind you, if you’ve not already have tickets, to please join us on the 23rd of July for a spectacular 3 course meal to support our cause. Scroll down under events for more details. Please do not miss out. You’ll contribute directly to the animals in our shelter as well as relive the plight of unsterilised cats and dogs in our outreach communities.

Thank you for your generous support and we get to meet each and every one of you on the farm this month.

News

2 Tiny brothers joined our family on 26 June 2016. They were found at Athlone dump and taken to the vet by caring people. Sadly the 3rd pup never had a chance and died before they were surrendered to us. RIP little baby, we know you are keeping watch over your brothers. You need not worry, we will protect and love them. The little ones were absolutely covered in fleas. They were very anemic and suffer from skin conditions. They are still weak, so please keep them in your hearts and send healing thoughts their way. They are so small.

We have named these gorgeous pups after 2 famous brothers, Owen and Luke Wilson. We just know these two will be handsome pups and one day they will have the world at their feet and their own families who will adore them.

RIP

Beatrice, please know that you will always share a very special place in our hearts now and for always!

Saying goodbye to you was surely the hardest thing to do.
Please know that we have loved you from the day you came into our lives, and today was the time for us to let you go.
We could not watch you suffer, we could not see you in pain anymore.
Now you run free like an angel on the clouds.
Your body is no longer sick, or weak, or hurting anymore.
Now you can run with the others, playing and hunting everything that dares to move.
Run our dearest one because there is no boundaries anymore –
But please know because we loved you, we had to let you go, but please know that you will forever keep on living in our hearts.

And as we had to say goodbye to you we just realised again,
Angels don’t always have wings, sometimes they do have fur and paws.
Angels don’t always wear halos, but sometimes they wear a collar.
Angels don’t always sleep on clouds above, sometimes they spend many special moments with and around us!
Angels don’t’ always sing in a heavenly chorus, sometimes they meow and purr just to show us how special we are!

Although we were not part of your life for long please know that each night we will shed a silent tear for you,
And as we sit silently we will share our thoughts with you – we will let you know how much we loved you, and just how much we cared for you.
We will always regret the fact that we were not able to give you the love of a furever home – a family that could have cherished and loved you for the special and amazing soul you were.
Our dearest girl it broke our hearts when God called your name so gently – softly that only you could hear,
And as the footsteps of the Angels drawing near – and softly from the shadows, the gentle call came,
As you closed your eyes and went to sleep, a part of us went with you, as they took you home.

We understand that you had to leave, for maybe you decided that it was your time to go,
We hope we showed you what kindness and love can do to a frail little body like yours.
We do not need a special day to bring you to our minds.
The days that we will not think of you will be very hard to find.
Our hearts will always aches with sadness and secret tears will still flow at each memory of you.
What it meant to lose you no one will ever know.
Our thoughts are always with you and your place no one can ever fill.
In life we loved you dearly and in death we will love you still.

Every day we will take our teardrops, wrap them up in love, then ask the wind to carry them right to heaven where you are.
You might be gone from our sight but please remember that you will never be gone from our minds nor from our hearts.
Run free our special girl – as one day we will be one again!

I’m Free
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free
I’ve left behind some misery.
My days of youthful agility,
Were no longer a possibility.
My weak joints and cloudy eyes,
Were longing for the heavenly skies.
Before I lost all dignity I’ve decided to spare you that misery,
And rather enter eternity.
So don’t grieve for me, as you have to set me free,
And when you are sad just remember how I used to be!
