To the Supporters and Volunteers of the Lucky Lucy Foundation

On Saturday 23 July, with the Cowboy Dance, we’ve had one of our most successful fundraisers ever. People came from all over in droves to support us with this initiative. Everyone had a great time and we got to meet over 200 people. Many of you have never been to the Lucky Lucy Farm and we want to extend a warm invitation to come visit us on weekends between 09:00 and 14:00 to see for yourself what your contributions are sustaining.

This week we share the stories of several of our cats and dogs adopted in the past week or so, and we share with you some of the stories of our long-term shelterbuddies. We remember and honour those that have passed and we bring you events to look out for.

Thank you for making the Lucky Lucy Foundation one of the best Animal Shelters in the Western Cape. You make all the difference. We have the most loyal, compassionate and loving supporters on our team, and that makes all the difference.

News

This week we celebrated the HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY of a very special boy.

Sixto came to us 3 years ago with severe head trauma that left him blind and affected his brain. Together we shared many tears of sadness and worry… but what we remember most are the moments of utter joy and laughter. We grew together and over the years he taught us the real meaning of true love and never giving up.

He is doing exceptionally well and is a happy boy. This past year he found his voice. Hearing him bark for the first time must be one of the most precious moments in our lives so far.

Sixto, we hope you enjoyed your treats and that you know just how much you mean to us. You are indeed a very special soul!

Love YOU so MUCH!

Xxx

Furkids in need of a home

Lady was surrendered to us during an outreach. She was treated for an embedded collar. Shortly thereafter she was adopted. We thought it was a true fairy-tail…from rags to riches. Sadly it did not last… She was returned on 19 July 2016, together with her friend Lula. We had a week to find them homes before the owners immigrated. Luckily Lula found a wonderful home within days (thanx to Lab rescue!).

Sadly for Lady she is not a pedigree dog like her friend Lula, a Labrador retriever. She is just a mixed breed. Now she is stuck in the system again… Waiting for her forever home, and we do mean FUREVER! She is an amazing lady, so full of love. You won’t find a more loyal forever fur’iend than her. She is very sad at the moment because she just lost her family and her best friend and we cannot stand to see this once bubbly kid not feeling well.

Please, we beg of you to share Lady’s plea so that she can find her true family and true happiness. She does not deserve to be back in a shelter.

Please e-mail adoption@luckylucy.org if you can offer Lady all the love in the world and a lifetime of happiness. In return she will give you love and joy forever and ever!

Estimated date of birth 2013/07/01

She is sterilized, microchipped and her deworming and vaccinations are all up to date.

Happy Homings

Happy homing : Tao our deaf staffie.

This young girl was confiscated on 8 Feb 2016 on the N7 while her owner was dragging her on a chain. She was very underweight with bad mange and full of wounds. She was taken to a vet and they asked us to take her in.

With proper food and love she soon blossomed and crept into everybody’s heart.

Now our gorgeous girl got adopted by the most amazing couple and on Wednesday, 20 July , Madame Tao flew to Johannesburg to her new home.

We would like to thank everybody who played a role in helping Tao find a home and who gave her so much love and care while at LLF.

Tao you will be missed but we are over ecstatic to see you so happy in your new home.

With lots of love from your LLF family.

RIP

With such a beautiful name, HOPE, you would have thought the future would be bright and joyous… but it was not meant to be.

You were only a few weeks old when your owners phoned us very late at night. They accidentally closed the door on you.

So we rushed to fetch you in the community. Bonile drove in the cold and dark to fetch you… and we all had hope in our hearts that you could be saved. But it was bad. Really really bad.

We took you to PanVet immediately. You were a broken body, paralysed and all smashed up. Blood spewed from your tiny innocent mouth. All that could be done was to hold you gently and give your precious soul to the angels to keep until the day we will all be reunited.

Hope, we are so sorry that we could not help you. Please take our love with you…

Furever our fur’iend.

We love you HOPE!

We are truly grateful to two amazing people, Herbie and Ananda Russ, who transformed the entrance to Al-CAT-raz (our open cat garden) and a section of our garden. Herbie and Kobus paved the entire entrance for us while Ananda did her magic with the garden section next to our Kittenry. We want to express our most sincere gratitude for this amazing transformation.

Thank you for believing in the same cause as we do and for helping us creating a little heaven on earth for the cats and kittens in our care – for some this will be the only home they will ever know.

Please know that this amazing gift from you will be touching and changing the lives of so many in our care and will positively shape the future for generations to come.

For the second time DOWNWARD DOG wowed us with their generosity and support, leaving us humble and furever grateful for their kindness.

So from the bottom of our hearts and the tips of our tails we would like to thank the following people who made this all possible:

Hosted by Michelle Jeanne Yoga and 91 Loop.

Raffle sponsors: Osumo, Nomu, The Creamery, I Love Screenprinting, Nak Hair, Essence, artist Kimberly Reed, and 91 Loop.

91 Loop for their venue, consistent support, and pizza sales donation.

Kyle from Craft Liquor Merchants and Gary from Citizen Brewery, for each donating a keg of beer for the beer exchange.

Glitz and Grammar, and Cape Town Etc. for promoting the event on their blogs.

Mikaila Keeves for her design work.

100 For Change for joining us and their members for filming and editing a video of the event (still to come!)

Louise and Joanne from Lucky Lucy who attended the event with some of our gorgeous pups.

Thank you to everyone who came, donated, and supported!

We received donations for our furkids and a cash donation too!

Thank you to Chelsea and Marina Menzies who contributed to the cash donation prior to the event.

… and above all THANK YOU to Michelle for arranging all of this and driving all the way to the farm on Sunday to deliver the furkids’ presents and to spend time with the furkids.

Oh… a thank you to Collin, our little boy, for posing so beautifully with Michelle for the photo.

A lot of THANK YOUs to ALL of YOU!
