MANDELA DAY SATURDAY 16 JULY 2016 & THE LUCKY LUCY FOUNDATION

The late Nelson Mandela was both an inspirational and selfless man and it is his selfless nature that has inspired South Africans to perpetuate that legacy by giving up their time and resources on Saturday the 18th of July each year to celebrate the life lessons taught to us by Nelson Mandela.

The Lucky Lucy Foundation is a registered and compliant NPO animal shelter that cares for Dogs and Cats that have been abandoned and abused and all volunteers and board members of The Lucky Lucy Foundation do so in their spare time and for no remuneration whatsoever.

The Lucky Lucy Foundation celebrates Mandela Day every year by asking members of the public and corporate teams to spend their time at the Foundation celebrating Mandela Day by contributing of their time or resources for the entire day or just 67 minutes.

Set out below are suggestions on how you may spend your time at the foundation or what you can contribute if you would like to.

We hope to see many of you at Lucky Lucy on Saturday the 16th of July to celebrate the legacy of a great man.

Please adopt us – We really need a family

Special Plea

Please spare our boy a thought and a prayer!

Our amazing boy, George Ezra, needs every healing thought and prayer that you can send his way – our boy is currently struggling to stay strong enough to fight pneumonia. We rushed him again to the vet late yesterday evening where he was immediately admitted. . X-rays was taken to determine the extent of the pneumonia and it showed that his left lung has an extremely serious infection. He is currently in the high-care unit where he is being monitored closely.

Our boy was immediately put on a drip but during the night George thought it best to bite right through the drip and Dr Yvan had to make a new plan to administer the medication – sadly George is not taking any medication by mouth as this is stressing him out too much and is then placing an additional burden on his breathing.

We are only human and it’s sometimes hard to be the wise, all-knowing creatures that our cats expect us to be. And so we pray today for a miracle and special help with our special and amazing boy George. To somehow help us through this difficult time so that we can stay strong for him. Life did not came easy for him as he and his siblings were left in a box outside in a field when a kind hearted lady found them and asked us to take them in. That day we made each one of them a promise that we would find them the purrfect furever homes where their new families will love and cherish them for the amazing souls they are. So now we need George to make a full recovery so that he can find his own furever and special family where they will only love and cherish him! 

Please, keep our George in your thoughts and prayers so that he can feel the love to stay strong. The next couple of hours is absolutely crucial for our boy as he urgently needs to respond to the treatment. 

The vet gave us a quote of R3500 for George’s treatment so if you want to lend a helping hand with his medical expenses, then this is how you can do it:

On 15 June 2016 we said good bye to an old friend, an

outreach furkid that we loved for the past

few years.

Skiewies, you were like a son to us. We will miss your smiles and your soft eyes, but we get to keep your warm memories in our hearts forever. You were one of a kind, a special soul. You were not a young man anymore, but we never expected to lose you so soon. Guess cancer has no feelings, it just takes want it wants without asking, without seeing the hurt it does…. the path of devastation it creates.

Skiewies, this is not a real good bye, it only means we will be apart for a while … Be happy and enjoy your rejuvenated healthy self beyond the rainbow bridge until that joyous day when we will run to each other and will live, together, in eternal bliss.

We love you Skiewies, we are forever bound by love.
