To the Supporters and Volunteers of the Lucky Lucy Foundation

Dear Lucky Lucy Supporter

This week we report back on the 8 dogs surrendered to us two Saturdays ago. Stay with us for a few more weeks and we’ll have them ready for adoption and their furever families real soon. Thank you so much for all your generous donations, enquiries and word of encouragement. We really appreciate it.

Our farm is abuzz with building activity. Our ablution block next to the cattery is almost finished as well as a shower block for our employees. We will have a fully functioning admission area, clinic and quarantine area in the next few weeks. We are certainly trying to improve every step of the way and we have you to thank for that.

Please enjoy our success stories outlined below and cry with us with some of the sad news that kept us lying awake at night. And again, let us know what you would like to know more of, see less of and help us to improve our communications to you by simply replying to this email and give us a shout.

Than you for supporting us and ensuring we are consistently at the top of our game.

From team LLF.

The Eight : Volume 2

Sadly the story of Olivia does not have a happy ending… Losing her has left us with wounded hearts.

Dear Olivia, precious & beautiful girl.

How is it possible to meet a furkid and feel like your souls were always destined to be together? You felt like an old soul, an old fur’iend that we have known forever. We are so sad that we could not keep our promises to you. When we laid eyes on you for the very first time, we promised you that you will be safe, that we will make you feel better and that the hardship was over.

We did not know that the angels were already readying themselves to take you with them…

You were the sickest of The Eight and were taken to hospital as we could see you were not coping at all. So skinny… it was clear that you needed help. Someone had stolen the light from your eyes. Yet, we were full of hope when you went to the vet. We were not ready for the results… You were too far gone and your body could no longer keep up the fight…

Olivia, you have a special place in our hearts. Until we meet again sweet girl. Remember we love you to the moon and back and beyond infinity. You will always be our doghter

…forever and ever.

The Eight : Volume 3

Meet Tina, furkid number 3, our lovable Staffie cross mom-to-be.

Tina came in with the rest of the furkids on Saturday morning and it was immediately clear that something was brewing. That tummy was way too big! She was taken to the vet who confirmed that her pups will be here soon. Not much time left! We are so happy that she was rescued in time and that she will not have her babies somewhere in the bush without any care. Hey Mom Tina, we will be there for you and your babies, every step of the way! After that, we promise you that you will never get pregnant again! This will be your last litter.

Tina was also diagnosed with demodectic mange. So if you can help with her care it would be much appreciated.

The Eight : Volume 4

Meet 2 scared little boys : Travis & Troy

They are an estimated 6 months old and is currently settling in well. It seems that Tina, the pregnant mom that we introduced to you yesterday evening, is their mom. Welcome to our family boys! We will make sure you get the best homes ever!

The Eight : Volume 5

Meet Twiggy, our new staffie girl.

Twiggy was diagnosed with demodectic mange. We suspected that she was pregnant too. She was examined and we were happy to hear that our girl is not pregnant! No more pups for this girl.

The Eight : Volume 6

Tragedy has struck again. We found beautiful Tucker dead on 6 May. Our hearts cannot comprehend why this young boy will never grow up… It has left us with a sense of loss so deep that it is smothering us. It is hard to breath in this think cloud of despair as this is the second of THE EIGHT that the angels came to fetch. We dare not fall apart, as the other 6 need us now more than ever. …but how do you pick yourself up and continue when a perfect little being is no longer there? How do you move on when your heart has been dragged through the mud on stomped on repeatedly.

Dear brave little boy, we will miss you so much. We will miss your soft smile. You may be reunited with Olivia for now beyond the rainbow bridge, but remember … one day… we will all be together. Until then, stay strong and happy. Remember you will furever be our son.

The Eight : Volume 7

Meet Oliver, the last of our Eight.

Life wasn’t always good to this boy. At first he was scared in his new surroun dings but it became clear very quickly that he is a real lover boy and attention seeker. He absolutely adores attention and was born to be loved by all that meet him.

Adopt Our Kittens

Update on Tao:

Our girl is ready for adoption. (The name means ‘one who will have a long life.’)

Sometimes life is not fair… and sometimes life is just plain cruel !!!

Tao was confiscated on 8 February 2016 on the N7 and surrendered to the vet. We were at the vet with some of our sick furkids and were asked to take in this damsel in distress.

She is still a young girl and must have fallen pregnant with her first heat cycle. Probably forced to mate so that she can be THEIR ATM cash machine!

Her skin was a mess and she had sarcoptic mange and lots of wounds. We have since found out that our girl is deaf. We don’t know if she was born deaf or if it is due to the abuse she endured. Her deafness does not bother her at all.

We promised Tao that we would put back the sparkle in her eyes, return the shine to her coat and to plump her up. We kept our promise and now our very special girl needs to find a home. Tao loves going for a walk and gets on with male dogs with a proper introduction. Tao is a staffie cross and has a typical staffie personality. She has the most amazing red/brown brindle colour. Tao simply adores humans and love getting on your lap. Please share Tao to help her find a loving home.

Estimated Date of Birth : 8 April 2015 / To adopt Tao please mail adoption@luckylucy.org
