To the Supporters and Volunteers of the Lucky Lucy Foundation

Our cat volunteers and resident felines are very excited to report that the “AlCATraz” cat village is fast becoming a reality. We have been humbled by the generous donations received towards this project and this week alone all our paving requirements have been donated.

The fencing is up, the installation of the gate is imminent and the new clinic area is almost ready. Once the fence has been secured we will be releasing the semi-feral and unadoptable cats into the “open” garden – those cats who perhaps came in as feral mothers and their kittens, have been tamed and homed and we do not have the heart to send them back to the terrible circumstances they come from, and others who have come to us too late to be “tamed” or our very special Magoo who is totally squint and would never survive in an outside colony.

Lucky Lucy practices, and will only assist with TVNR, we trap, test, vaccinate, neuter and return. All our ferals are microchipped too. Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return is the humane and effective approach for stray and feral cats. Scientific studies show that this practice improves the lives of feral cats, improves their relationships with the people who live near them, and decreases the size of colonies over time.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for making our dream a reality. Our aim is to change the opinions of shelters and rescue animals with your help.

Introducing Hoppie

Please help Hoppie, one of our outreach furkids. He is feeling very ‘eina’ after he was bitten by other dogs in the community where he lives. He was admitted to hospital where he will need to stay for a few days. Please if you are able to help with his vet bill it will be much appreciated. No amount is too small. Every cent will be welcomed with much tail wagging and woofin’

Update on Tina – 14 May

Welcome to the world, 6 tiny perfect souls!

Pregnant Mom Tina was rescued on 30 April 2016 as part of THE EIGHT.

A vet check-up confirmed that Tina had mange but the unborn pups were doing well. Then the wait started. On Saturday, 14 May 2016, Tina gave birth to 6 puppies. 3 boys and 3 girls. Tina is an extremely good mom and knew instinctively what to do. However, she did need help with the last pup as little Twinkie was not breathing.

She licked and cleaned and we waited for that first breath, but it did not come. So we helped mom a bit. Words cannot express the feeling when that first cry was heard. It must be the most beautiful sound in the whole wide world! Mom took over from there. They are all doing well, even Twinkie, who is less than half the size of his brothers and sisters.

Please keep them all in your hearts and send pawsitive thoughts their way. Life is very fragile at this tender age.

Congratulations Mom Tina! Thank you for being an awesome mom! … and welcome to the world little ones!

R.I.P.

RIP In loving memory of Keanu

Dear little Keanu, when we first met you and your 2 sisters, we were struck with disbelieve…disbelieve that you were in such a state of neglect. Your sister Kiera died the next day in hospital and you and Keisha were left without a sister.

You started to do better in the loving home of our foster mom, Louise. Then…. you became ill. For a bit more than a week you fought in hospital to stay alive. They even had to operate on your tiny baby body…. Still you did not get better, but we never lost hope. Then this morning you took a turn for the worst. You were such a brave boy to hang on long enough for your foster mom to arrive at the hospital before you took the hands of the angels and followed them to your new home beyond the rainbow bridge.

Through our tears we can see you and Kiera, reunited and playing in the daisy fields far from here. Happy & healthy forever and ever. Be strong little one. Remember your foster mom and all of us love you forever and ever. Till we meet again, Keanu.

In loving memory of Tarzan.

Poor Tarzan had nothing except an old bag that he could sleep on. Nothing else…

He was alone in this world. No shelter. No food. No water. No medical help and most of all no love. Everyone chased him away as he was sick and they wanted nothing to do with him. Even with nothing in life, this boy stayed incredibly loyal. He was not chained, nothing held him back, but yet he stayed at that house that he knew. The house where his so called owner stayed. He sat, waiting for death to take him from this miserable life. Months came and months went…

and every day it became more unbearable.

We noticed this broken soul when we did an outreach in the community, and our hearts just shattered into a million pieces. How could life be this cruel to an innocent soul? Our quarantine area is overflowing, which means we did not even have ONE open cage. We just had to make a plan to squeeze one more in. There was no way that we could walk away and leave this boy to die without help!

A big thank you goes out to Bonile that made sure we got this boy
safely to us. Thank you for your compassion and kind heart. Thank you for fighting for our furkids…  every single one of them.
Tarzan arrived at LLF and we rushed him to the vet. He had so much love to give but sadly all our dreams and hopes for a bright future were crushed. All our love for you was not enough to save you.
We were too late. You were a really old man and your pelvis was completely
shattered. Your eye needed removal…. Not only was your body broken but so too your soul. You were no longer strong enough to hold on.

Dear Tarzan, we know you were tired and you needed to let go from this earthly suffering. We are so sorry dear fur’iend. Please know that we loved you and still do. It does not matter that you’ve shared your life only briefly with us, you will be our son forever and ever. When you look down from above, we hope that you know that we only wanted the best for you…

that we loved you dearly and that your suffering and neglect fueled our
determination to make a change out there for those who needs us too.
Run free our special boy.

We love you forever and ever…. till we meet again dear Tarzan.
