Tom , the little old guy Bonele found next to the road is feeling better. He had his first grooming and although he has arthritis, he walks around. He likes the younger female doggies and loves talking to get attention.

Transport is the lifeline for the furkids and we cannot go without it. We would appreciate your help pawlease …

Our Isuzu bakkie needed two new tyres and our Opel bakkie is also leg-less at the moment as it had to be towed in on Friday. A visit to the CAR ’doctor’ was needed.
The cam-belt broke, the cam-gear was damaged and the valves are bent. The ‘Brakkie’ needs a service as well. One of our volunteers kindly donated a battery but we still need funds for the car repair, service and the tyres. Your donation will be greatly appreciated.

Meet Nelson

21 Nov 2014

We have to apologize to sensitive viewers for the graphic photo of our Nelson – the photo was taken while he was under sedation.

Nelson was found in Milnerton and Lucky Lucy was asked to urgently help him. He was rushed to our vet who confirmed that there is serious trauma to the head and eye due to a blunt object. His left eye also has a serious infection which needed to be treated immediately. He will spent the weekend in hospital and on Monday morning they will remove his left eye.

As we open our hearts and enfold Nelson in our arms we just realized once again how difficult life can be when you find yourself all alone a place where no one care and where you are always in the way. We sometimes just do not have the answers when we see what our humans are capable off but we promised him that we will never give up on him. We will love him furever and he must remember he is now part of the Lucky Lucy family where we only know luv. We cannot take away what happened to him but we sure can try make it better!
Please spare our boy a prayer and sent him lots of love and healing thoughts so that he knows what it is to be part of a family that only knows love and understanding. Our boy needs to know that he will be absolutely purrfect even if he only has one eye.

Update 26 Nov 2014

Yesterday the vet did not want to operate because of the seriousness of the infection and she postponed his operation until this morning. After another assessment our vet decided that she need to do the operation in order to find what exactly is going on behind the eye as the trauma seemed more serious as originally anticipated.

During our visit to Nelson this afternoon our vet informed us about the shock recovery when she found that an abscess had formed behind the eye. The abscess burst open when she started with the procedure and she had to flash the whole eye socket before continuing with the delicate operation. The real damage to they eye was then visible and she found that the infection was much more serious than anticipated. This was an old injury and the pain must have been unbearable for him and yet he always wanted to cuddle with everyone who gave him attention.

The trauma to the eye and the head was definitely caused by a blunt object and no other puncture wounds could be found to support the fact that he was attacked by a dog. We will never know how long our boy walked with his injury before he was found and our help was requested. We are all just extremely grateful that he was found by a kind gentleman who sought medical assistance for him.

Nelson will have to stay in hospital for at least the next 3 days so that they can monitor the infection and to ensure that it does not spread to other parts of his little body. We again visited our boy this afternoon to make sure that he is comfortable and we told him of all the amazing people who sent him healing thoughts for a speedy recovery. So for tonight our boy is comfortable, loved by so many and has a full tummy.

This little boy is truly one amazing little character and you cannot but admire his spirit.
Please spare our boy a prayer and sent him lots of love and healing thoughts so that he knows what it feels like to be part of a family that only knows love and understanding. Our boy needs to know that he will be absolutely purrfect in every way, even if he only has one eye.

If we can sent you a million purrrrs to show how much we appreciate all the suppawt then we would move the world to make it happen.
