To the Supporters and Volunteers of the Lucky Lucy Foundation

We rescue furkids… but now we need YOU to rescue us from our crippling vet bills.

We can only save lives with your suppawt. We’ve had a huge influx of furkids in need and they are still streaming in…. No end in sight…

Some of our older family members like Zac (eye problem) also require veterinary care and Brandy’s ruptured crutiate ligament will be operated on within the week. Please help. No amount is too small. Our furkids and us would be furever grateful!

We are currently beyond our capacity and we simply cannot take in more animals at this point. Dog aggression in some of our most recent rescues prevents us from integrating them in our camp system and forces us to use single accommodation quarters. This contributes significantly to us being overstretched in terms of housing. We want to share with you our wonderful supporters our achievements this past week.

We have quite a lot to share, and this newsletter is packed with goodies. so please bear with us and read all the way to the end.

Thank you so much! We really cannot do this without you.

New Arrivals

Meet Babi and the 9 little stars. Rescued 11 February 2016. We received a call to help a mommy dog and her pups that were no longer welcome in Kalbaskraal. It was a mission to get them from under the wooden house, but with patience Mom & 9 babies were coaxed to safety. Sadly a few pups have already died and we were too late for them. 🙁

Babi, the mom, is a super gorgeous and friendly girl and gets along with everybody. She is already stealing the hearts of everyone she meets. The pups are not in the best condition. They are underweight and they were absolutely covered with ticks!!! Even their ears were clogged up with the nasty parasites. They tested negative for Parvo and Distemper and have started their journey to happy healthy furkids. We hope to see the twinkle returning to our little star’s eyes soon.

Meet George . Rescued 13 February 2016

It is very quiet where George lies down on his beddie…George does not say a word, no woof from this boy’s cracked lips. He is silent. He does not want to speak about his ordeal. He does not want to think of the past,

in fact right now he does not even want to think of the future either.

George curled up in a tiny little ball and just wishes everything would stop. George is hiding from the world, he is not ready to come out from under his blankie yet.Together, we are taking it day by day. George doesn’t know it yet, but his life changed the moment his special guardian angel picked him up near the toll-plaza on the N1, Paarl, and brought him to us. Thank you for your compassion and not looking the other way. If you were not there…

Please keep George in your thoughts. It has been a very long time since this boy knew the touch of a loving hand and the feeling of being safe. He needs every bit of love coming his way.

A short update 15 Feb 2016

George’s first bath… let the healing begin! Look at this cute little boy, even after all he’s been through he still had to roll on the ground after his bath. It seems like tiny moments of ‘happiness’ are returning to his life. Just look at him ‘swimming’ on the grass!

Outreach work

On Saturday, 13 February 2016, we shared some pre-Valentine’s day love with some of our outreach furkids. We left with a warm feeling in our hearts knowing that our presence there is making a difference. Great was our delight to see old man Zorro looking a million times better. Previously he was a sad sack of bones and just look at him now!

It is also heart-warming to see all the children eager to help with the outreach and we use this opportunity to educate and create a love for animals in their hearts.
