Winter approaches and I am sure, like all of us at Lucky Lucy, you are all hoping we receive the rain we all desperately need.
At Lucky Lucy our animal shelters are all built and we will do some maintenance just prior to the winter rains arriving to ensure our Furkids are kept warm and dry during the rains. We are currently trying to source 100 bales of straw for the enclosures and the diatoms necessary to treat that straw, so if any of you know a friendly farmer please let us know!
Our treasurer has just completed the 2015 financials and I can confirm that Lucky Lucy has managed to cover all of its expenses during 2015 and make inroads into its overdraft. It is thanks to your continued and loyal support that we are able to do so, so our sincere thanks to you all.
The challenge is to maintain and grow our consistent monthly income which covers the monthly running expenses of the foundation. To do this we need to grow our Guardian Angels and general fund raising activity. Whilst we are fortunate to have several loyal corporate donors who make substantial donations from time to time, these donations cannot be relied on for ongoing monthly expenses. Networking between supporters has been the most successful mechanism to increase our support base, so please may we ask that you continue to talk about the foundation and what it does wherever you go. If we can gain another 100 Guardian Angels, that income will allow us to cover monthly expenses and reduce the likelihood of difficult financial circumstances such as we have just survived due to your generous support.
Due to generous donor support our Clinic is moving speedily toward completion. We will be having a Truss building weekend soon and I’d like to ask that any men/women who feel they can contribute to building these roof trusses join us at LLF on that weekend.
The Forest to the east of the clinic is being turned into an off-leash walking park and should be completed by end May 2016. This will be offered to members of the public as a safe place to ‘run’ your dogs. A monthly fee will be charged and that will naturally contribute to LLF direct expenses.
We are also very close to offering our supporters and volunteer’ a ‘real toilet experience’ – I am sure none of us will be sad to see the ‘fear factor’ rental loo’ leave the farm for the last time!!
We remain reliant and sincerely appreciative of your support and look forward to seeing you on the farm soon.
Team Lucky Lucy
