To the Supporters and Volunteers of the Lucky Lucy Foundation

Dear Lucky Lucy Volunteers and Supporters,

Near the end of this unrelenting summer, we continue to count our blessings, and we try to make the most of these last balmy days before the chill of winter sets in.

Our awesome volunteers have continued to instill hope and courage into the hearts of our orphan furkids. They have taken plenty of our dogs to the beach, which for some of them are their first encounter with waves, chasing sea birds and sniffing shells. They have fostered some of our most vulnerable kittens and puppies while battling illness. And most importantly they have been constant and reliable companions to them, and trained them, groomed them, hugged and kissed them and poured their hearts out to them. This is why we are constantly invigorated and encouraged, and why we will never give up on ensuring all our furkids get the home and family they deserve. It’s all because of you.

Winter is traditionally a time of recuperation and a buildup of resources. Of course the ongoing water scarcity has hit us hard as it did everyone else in the Greater Cape Town, affecting our water supply. We are in a process of assuring water supply continuity and we are looking at perhaps a new borehole or a second source of municipal supply. We would really appreciate any guidance or support any of you could provide.

We want to appeal to all of you to spread the word on the work we do. Forward this newsletter to family members and coworkers. Encourage your friends to visit our farm, we promise they will not shed a single tear. Our boys and girls are happy, content, well-fed and very enthusiastic about being visited each and every time. We could also really do with more potential adopters looking to complete their families. Please don’t be put off by the current roadworks on the N7. The road is very safe, and the farm is very accessible with normal sedan vehicles. Please, we implore you to visit us over the weekends, we would love to meet you and invite new visitors to be part of our extensive family.

We wish you safe travels over this coming long weekend, stay safe and come visit us soon.
