HOMES needed for FURKIDS!

We have run out of space and our resources are stretched to the limit.

2016 started off with a big bang. In fact it was more than a bang, it was a huge explosion of furry needs! We have taken in 42 new dogs, and 5 furkids, previously adopted from us, were returned to us. Once a LLF baby always a LLF baby! We will never turn our back any of our furkids, in fact, our contract states that the furkid must be returned to us should the new guardians no longer be able to look after him/her.

So, we had to find space for 47 dogs this year. Every nook and cranny are filled. We even made more nooks and crannies to accommodate them! Sadly we have now run out of space and our resources are stretched to the limit. Adoptions have been slow and only 25 canine kids found homes so far this year.

We beg of you to please adopt a special fur’iend from us – if you are able to commit to having a fur’iend for life.

We have them all: young & old, boisterous & quiet, single dogs and ones that thrive on canine company (some even feline company!). All beautiful unique beings of which some have been with us for more than 5 years!

Please share this with all your friends, colleagues, family… everyone you know and even those you don’t know, so that we can find loving forever homes. This will open up space at our shelter and will ensure that we can help the ones that need rescuing. Remember, when adopting one dog, YOU save the lives of TWO dogs! The one you adopt and the one that will now fill his/her place at our shelter!

New Arrivals

Do you believe in miracles? We do!

A 10th little star was found… but we need another miracle so that this tiny baby can be healthy and full of live again.

Babi and her 9 pups were rescued on 11 Feb. On 16 February we were alerted that Babi’s 10th puppy emerged from under the wooden house. And there we thought all the others were dead! It is indeed a miracle that we found another survivor. (No traces of any other pups were found.) Weak, covered in motor oil, fleas and ticks but safe! The vet put the pup on meds and now we need all of you to send healing thoughts to this tiny little being.

Abbott

We seriously need special prayers and healing thoughts for our boy Abbott.

He was rescued on 16 February 2016. He was removed after kids were seen throwing stones at him in Abbottsdale. Abbott stayed at the vet for a few days. He was severely dehydrated. He also has terrible skin with sores and mange. They x-rayed him and found no broken bones, only old injuries that healed over time and left his body with arthritis. He made improvement and was released from hospital, but we fear all is not well and he needs to go back (we will be taking him to a specialist) . Abbott does not acknowledge the world, he just lies down. He won’t walk and if we want to help him, he just falls over. We also fear there might be problems with his eye sight.

Please keep him in your hearts, for our middle aged man is not well and it does look like he has given up. We are very worried about him. Your heart just cringes when you hold his tiny shivering body in your arms. If love was enough and the answer to all, we would have healed him in a split second…

Tonight when you go to sleep, send him your special guardian angel to watch over this tiny broken soul. We also pray that the vets find out what is wrong with our boy and that he will be back to a bubbly boy soon.

Outreach Furchild needed help

Poor Skarels is the victim of a dog attack. Not one… not two…but three dogs attacked this gentle girl in the community where she stays. They bit her legs, severely tore her ear and left her tummy full of holes… lotsa holes.

She was stitched up, bandages put on and drains inserted…. and was released from hospital after a short stay. Even while being battered and bruised, she is still an amazing girl. Her smile is gone temporarily, but her eyes is soft and we are sure she will be smiling again soon!
