This little one’s life was hanging on a thread. She was severely dehydrated and her gums ghostly white. She went to our emergency vet and was put on a drip. She has been discharged and we are keeping a close eye on her.
Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
She is a precious being and we promised her everything will be okay from now. We need to keep our promise to little Caitlyn.

We were informed about a mom and her pups in an informal settlement. Sadly we learned that the mom was killed, leaving behind 5 pups. This morning we went in to save the pups from possibly being beaten to a pulp. We managed to save two pups. The rest were already given away. Yet we did not stop there. We went in again later and retrieved the remaining 3 pups from this litter. Thank you Bonile for not giving up and saving the whole litter.

To mommy dog, our hearts are broken and our souls torn apart that we could not save you in time. We hope that your pain is finally gone and that you are smiling down on us. We will do whatever it takes to ensure ALL your pups have happy LOOOONG lives. The happiness and love you never had. We are so sorry, mommy dog. Even though we never knew you, we love you as we are bound with ties beyond this world.

T.K.O – 28 July 2015

Outraged…. Angry… Sad…. Why? Why? Why did this happen?

This morning another needy furkid crossed our path.
Meet T.K.O. He was hit with a stick and left with a broken leg.
He was admitted to hospital and is currently receiving pain medication to keep him comfortable until further medical treatment.

After a few options were presented to us by the vet, the recommendation is to have a plate inserted. This will ensure little T.K.O.’s leg can be saved. This comes at a hefty price of around R4000. We know it is a lot of money, but how do you put a price on the use of one of your limbs? For T.K.O this is priceless…. Life is absolutely worth it. Every cent!

Quick medical update on Fiesta:

The results for the tests on the tumur removed from Fiesta is excellent! It is benign! There is a possibility that the tumour may return in the future. We are so happy it is not cancer!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIXTO !!!

Two years ago on 25 July 2013, a miracle became part of our lives. This miracle is Sixto. He came to us as a petrified bundle of abuse with severe head trauma. Little did we know, as he started his journey to a better tomorrow, that this pure soul will touch so many lives. He taught us about love, compassion and forgiveness, but most of all he taught us to NEVER EVER give up. Where there is life, there is hope.

Sixto had many setbacks, and still he continues to live life to the fullest. Just after he came to us, it became evident that this boy was blind. Not just blind, but there is a bit of brain damage too as confirmed by a vet. That did not get Sixto to go sit in a corner and feel sorry for himself, instead he became an inspiration to those that love him. Sixto battles epileptic fits and with the right medication and time this is under control. He was also diagnosed with chronic skin allergies and we are happy to say that with the new diet and combination of meds, his hair is starting to look beautiful and the itchiness is so much better. (How can one deny a boy his birthday meal? So we’ve broke the rules a bit and gave him something other than his special food on his birthday. Who can resist that smile on his face and the wag in his tail? After all, we want our boy not just healthy, but happy too.)

We are proud to have this gentle being as part of our family.

Sixto, thank you for being YOU! Thank you for showing us the real meaning of love.
Thank you for allowing us to love you. You are a special little man, pure of soul.
WE LOVE YOU!
YOU ARE PERFECT!
