Tinkerbell

We heard of a little Maltese family that needed help.
We were able to take in the little boy and girl but could not save the Mommy Maltese. We are heartbroken. Mommy, know that we have managed to save your baby boy and baby girl. We promise to look after your kids and find them awesome forever “pawrents” who are worth looking after your babies.

Shortly after we got the siblings the little girl got ill and was rushed to the vet.
This girl, Tinkerbell, fought for her life. She was emaciated and needed an urgent blood transfusion. It was “touch and go” and after 5 days our little girl left for her foster home. She joined her brother Rapscallion and they are both up for adoption.
The suppawt we got on facebook was overwhelming and we cannot thank people enough for their prayers, positive thoughts and financial contributions to pay for her vet bill.

16 Apr 2015

Please share this newsletter with friends, family and colleagues and remember to visit our website to see all the cats and dogs waiting for their forever home.

As always it has been a very busy week at the farm, we are working hard getting the camps ready for winter. We still have a lot of work to do and we would appreciate any help.

We get so many requests to help animals and as much as we would love to help them all we cannot take in more animals than we can care for financially, emotionally and with our existing resources.

Please encourage all your friends and family to sterilize their pets and to adopt if possible. We have so many awesome dogs and cats needing homes. This week we introduce some of our new fur-children we are committed to.

We are having another microchip day in Hout Bay and in Goodwood please share with your friends and family to help us get as many animals chipped as possible.

From 14 April until 22 May 2015 all MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet supporters can vote for their favorite charity.
The charity that comes out tops will receive a R70 000 cash donation, 2nd place R35 000 cash donation, 3rd place R25 000 and 4th to 10th place will all get a R10 000 cash donation. We can really utilize a big cash donation like this as we still need to build Quarantine camps, puppy camps, a cat garden, volunteer area and an office on the farm.

News

Boytjie

They found me in the bush and took me to this place they call Lucky Lucy Foundation on 12 April 2015.

The people here are really nice and I am no longer just ‘bush baby’, they gave me a name, “Boytjie”. They made a fuss over me and gave me lots of hugs and kisses. They gave me meds and ointment for my flea eaten ears and the itchy mange that is creeping up on my legs and bottom. They even took away all the fleas and ticks.

You should see all the food! I can eat all day and they just fill it up! I never again have to worry about my hips and bones sticking out. In no time, I will be a well-rounded little boy!

I think my best moment ever was when they gave me a soft furry blankie. Heaven I tell you! Pure joy! My first ever blankie. I rolled and rolled around on the soft material and just could not get enough of it!

Soon I will be well enough to go to a place the people call a forever home. They even promised me that there is a family out there just for me. One that will love me forever and never ever leave me. I will never be a bush baby again. I am a loved boy now and I am Boytjie.

Philip

A lonely, skinny boy was found wandering near the N7 on 25 March 2015 by two of our own people, Louise and Nalanie. This boy clearly hasn’t enjoyed love (and food!!!) for some time as he is a scared boy. He wants love and he wants to trust, but is hesitant as he does not know what to expect from us humans yet.

We have named this big skinny boy Philip. A name suited for a furkid fit for royalty. Soon he will be the confident king of his own life. From that first moment we saw him, he was and is the love of our lives. Our son even after the day he leaves to be with his forever adoptive family.

Please send healing and calming thoughts his way.

Ruben

A little naked baby boy of about 3 or 4 months old has joined our family this evening. He is a bundle of inflamed skin and bones. His poor tummy is stretched to capacity, filled with ugly worms.

It makes us sad and angry knowing that his life thus far has been utter agony. No one to hold him and tell him all is going to be fine… Alone. Afraid. Thrown away… Since when has life become worthless, since when is it okay to just abandon and look the other way? He has the eyes of an old soul, seen so many things, things that we promised him he’ll never ever have to endure again. Found in a yard where he lay for 2 weeks, they did not even bother to offer this soul a drop of water or a morsel of food.

We have named this tiny miracle Ruben. A name that means ‘Behold a son’ for we have been blessed with another son. One that we will fight for and support on his way to health, with the help of you, our loving and caring suppawters, so one day he can become a deserving loving family’s son.

Ruben is safe now. He will go to the vet tomorrow morning, so please keep him in your thoughts.
We have taken in so many needy furkids recently that we are struggling to cope with all the vet bills, if you can spare a few cents towards his recovery we will furever be grateful.

Cat Notice IMPORTANT NOTICE!

It is with great despondency that we have to inform everyone that we are currently overflowing with all the rescue cats and kittens that entered our sanctuary since Christmas 2014. We have the capacity to care for 80 cats and kittens and we currently have a total of 145 in our care, some of whom are special needs and need extra care and attention.
The sad reality is that we cannot take anymore cats and kittens in unless there are quite a number of adoptions. Until further notice we are at full capacity.
How can you help? Please share our plea for adoptions with your friends and family and help us find the babies currently in our care suitable homes in order for us to rescue again.
We tried to create space for as many as possible but we can unfortunately not expand our existing structures to accommodate more cats and kittens. Please do not think for one moment that this does not break our hearts receiving requests for assistance and being unable to do so. We would love nothing more than to take in every single unwanted, abused or abandoned cat out there.

Please remember that The Lucky Lucy Foundation operates on limited human and financial resources and with the little mouths increasing that obligation increases.
We assure you that every single cat and kitten in our care is happy, healthy, safe, well-fed and loved but we need them to find suitable and loving forever homes. We pride ourselves on never compromising on the care of our existing residents.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our existing suppawters and adopters for your continued suppawt in the past and in the future. You are the reason we exist and can continue to make a difference in the lives of our current and future rescues. THANK YOU.

Rudo really needs your help, please!

This boy was surrendered to another organization when his previous owner could not longer care for him and his brother Caron. Lucky Lucy was approached to assist with their further care because they could no longer stay at that organization due to them being 8 years of age.
We could not walk away and we had to take Rudo and his amazing brother Caron. Rudo really is the ultimate feline companion especially if you are looking for some true love in your life. His love knows no boundaries and he absolutely adores attention. He a gorgeous, lovable, chatty and adorable male who will shower you with as much love as you can handle.

At the moment Caron is coping much better than Rudo in the shelter environment and although Rudo is full of confidence he just cannot settle in with his other companions. We completely understand that our boy is not settling because he really endured a lot since he was surrendered and being sensitive did not help him at all.

We just cannot bear to see him unhappy and it is for this reason we share his plea for a permanent home or a foster home that will became his permanent home. He would love his brother to go with him, but at this stage finding Rudo a loving and caring family would be the first prize.
Rudo would however prefer to be part of a household of not more than 2 other kitties.
If you have a small space in your home and in your heart then please email us at cattery@luckylucy.org.
Our boy has tested negative for Feline Leukemia and Feline Aids, is sterilized, microchipped & vaccinated with the required vaccines which include the FeLV vaccine.

Shwi

Meet Shwi and her 11 pups.
8 boys and 3 girls.

We were asked to help as Shwi, a gentle township girl, was to give birth in a weeks’ time. So on 27 March around 7 AM we went to collect the pregnant girl, only to discover that she had her pups around 4 AM that morning.
So Shwi and her 3 hour old babies came to us. Shwi is a gentle caring mom but the toll of having to feed 11 little mouths is taking its toll on her and 3 babies were taking into foster care after 2 weeks by our awesome foster mom Louise!

Thank you Louise from us and Shwi!
